What’s behind all this?
The world of labour is changing fundamentally as a result of digitalisation. For many craft businesses, high market dynamics and new technologies pose major challenges. Topics such as Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are on everyone’s lips, both in the start-up scene and industry. But what is behind these technologies and are there areas of application for them in the crafts? The event Hack the Craftsmen’s Quests at the Bildungscampus in Heilbronn from March 6th to 8th 2020 is dedicated to this question. During the three-day event, groups of students and doctoral candidates will work on real handicraft business problems and develop innovative solutions with technologies such as IoT, Blockchain and AI. Regional and supra-regional companies provide their technologies and expertise to the student groups, in order to work together on the problems of handicraft enterprises.
What is a co-hackathon?
The aim of Hack the Craftsmen’s Quests is to solve all challenges together in the best possible way. The students work together in interdisciplinary groups, but also cooperate and support each other across groups – a hackathon becomes a co-(operative) hackathon. On the second day of the event, all groups will present their intermediate results. Possible delays and needs for specific help can be pointed out. Participants with the required know-how become supporters and temporarily exchange the group to support each other.
